VAN
TULLIS BIOGRAPHY
Van C. Tullis, principal of Van Tullis Interiors, is a widely respected
interior designer with over nineteen years of experience.
His distinctive interiors emerge from a creative vision that is based
on three basic principles:
• Clear intention
• Honest communication
• Use of quality materials
Van Tullis has worked with hundreds of residential and commercial clients
and his interiors have been widely published. Before founding Van Tullis
Interiors in Chicago, he spent twelve years with Perlmutter-Friewald,
Inc., the active Detroit-area design firm, as a leading designer, administrator
and shareholder, and three years on a rewarding creative sabbatical in
Santa Fe.
Van Tullis brings rich experience to his interior designs. Besides extensively
renovating several of his own homes, he has also studied furniture design,
sculpture, ceramics and drawing. Activities have included serving as a
board member of Detroit Focus and as a crisis counselor for Common Ground.
Tullis is also an active member of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Art
Institute of Chicago, The Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago Architecture
Foundation and the Architecture and Design Society.

• State of Illinois Registered Interior Designer
• BA in Interior Design from Michigan State University
