Small Redesign The client wished to update
her daughter's bedroom with a more sophisticated design, and convert another
bedroom into a comfortable family sitting room.
Phase 1: Project Definition
Van Tullis met with this new client for an initial consultation which
turned out to be a rich information gathering session.
After a few more phone conversations, we developed a clear plan for both
rooms showing the furniture layout and suggestions for new flooring, wall
and window treatments. We chose to restyle some existing furniture and
add newly designed pieces to the rooms' designs.
Phase 2: Research & preparation
Because most questions were answered early on, we moved rapidly into idea
development.
Phase 3: Concept development & refinement
The floor plans developed quickly, as the traditional rooms provided few
placement options. We spent more time working with fabric and finishes,
taking cues from the architecture and existing furniture. At presentation
time the client approved our suggestion for a warm, animated room. We
then researched item pricing.
Phase 4: Design implementation & supervision
We placed orders, developed custom wall glazes, stencils, and bedhangings,
and coordinated shipment and delivery. Supervision continued during refinishing,
painting and window treatment installation.
Phase 5: Project completion
We made final adjustments to art and furniture, and finished the project
by placing the lamps and accessories. |
